my little secret

my secret?
i never make the bed. i’ve always thought that it was a waste of energy. i’m just going to mess it up again, night after night, so why bother? i straighten it up just before jumping in it, when i have to. the rest of the time? i have art to make and photographs to take. who has time for housework?

art journal challenge

may 02 art journal entry

may 02 art journal entry

For the month of May, I am challenging myself to update my art journal daily. I have kept up, so far. These shots were taken with my toy camera, and I love how they came out. I really didn’t want to share the text here, so the camera captured exactly what I wanted it to. The slightly blurred look is also something I love.

I was listening to the new Counting Crows CD while painting the second ATC. I stole some of the lyrics to go around the outside. It says, “There she goes walking on my skin again”. I think it’s my favorite song on the CD. It inspired me to paint my younger self on the ATC. My hair is still that long, but my waist isn’t that small. heh! It happens to the best of us, doesn’t it?

If you want to join me in the May challenge, feel free. Leave a comment here, so I can follow along in your blog.

Suzi Blu updated with a new video yesterday. I stole some of it for my art journal.

new layout

I keep messing with the layout because I can’t find a theme that I’m happy with. I’ve gone back to the very basic - plain looking blog. It’s easy to update, and I’d rather be updating than messing with php and css code.

My future plan is to get rid of Wordpress. I hate it. HATE. It seems to be always messing up in one way or another. It has stolen HOURS WEEKS away from my life. I am always struggling with it for one reason or another. I’m tired of fighting with it.

Lately, I have been having a really hard time finding a theme that works since I upgraded to the newest version. My site goes completely white whenever I install a new theme. If it’s not white, none of the links work. It is a mess, and I don’t feel like dealing with it. This theme works. I’ve messed with the colors a bit, and that’s all I’m going to do with it. I’m ready to move on from Wordpress, and I’m on the lookout for something else.

I’ve been looking into using Drupal, but the learning curve is steep. It will take some time before I feel confident using it. I have it installed, and I’m trying to learn the new language. It is quite different than Wordpress, yet, the same in many ways. The jury is still out whether or not I will end up using it. Depends whether or not I can wrap my brain around it or not.

So, until I find something that I like, I’ll be using the utterly basic Kubrick theme. Ah, well. At least I will be blogging again.
